Project/Field Director and Crew Chief

We're Hiring: Project/Field Director & Crew Chief (Full-Time, Permanent)

EnviroSystems Management, Inc. – Flagstaff, Arizona

EnviroSystems Management, Inc. (EnviroSystems) is a woman‑owned small business specializing in environmental and cultural resources consulting across the Southwest, Great Basin, and Intermountain West. We are expanding our Cultural Resources Department and seeking qualified candidates for permanent, full‑time roles.

Project / Field Director

Crew Chief

Salary Range: $55,000–$72,000 (DOE)

What You'll Do

Project / Field Director

  • Lead and manage cultural resources projects of various sizes
  • Supervise archaeological field crews
  • Conduct and oversee field inventories, artifact documentation, and feature recording
  • Author and review site forms and technical reports
  • Maintain project schedules and budgets
  • Communicate effectively with agency staff, clients, and team members

Crew Chief

  • Supervise field crews under the direction of a Field Director
  • Ensure high-quality, consistent, and organized field documentation
  • Work in remote environments and rugged terrain

Qualifications

Project / Field Director

  • Graduate degree in Archaeology or Anthropology
  • Significant supervisory and field experience
  • Eligibility for federal/state cultural resource permits
  • Strong writing, organizational, and time‑management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

Crew Chief

  • Master’s degree preferred; Bachelor’s degree with experience considered
  • Demonstrated experience supervising crews and completing field documentation
  • Ability to work in remote, physically demanding environments

Preferred Skills

  • Experience or permitability with USFS, BLM, or state agencies in AZ, UT, NV, and NM
  • Experience in southern California or western Colorado (a plus, not required)
  • Familiarity with NHPA Section 106 (training provided for the right candidate)
