Kids Outdoor Art Teacher
Position Overview We're seeking a creative and enthusiastic Art Teacher to lead outdoor painting and drawing sessions for children ages 2-10 in San Francisco and Bay Area parks. You'll inspire young artists to explore their creativity while enjoying the beauty of outdoor spaces, helping families discover art in nature, and build community connections.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead 30-60 minute outdoor art classes featuring painting, drawing, and mixed media activities
- Design age-appropriate art projects that accommodate skill levels from toddlers to elementary-aged children
- Bring all necessary art supplies and materials to outdoor locations
- Set up and break down art stations in park or playground settings
- Teach basic art techniques while encouraging individual creative expression
- Manage outdoor logistics, including weather considerations and workspace setup
- Maintain a clean and organized environment, ensuring proper cleanup after sessions
- Foster a supportive, inclusive atmosphere where all children feel confident to create
- Communicate with parents/caregivers about class activities and their child's artistic development
Qualifications
- Experience teaching art to children ages 2-10, preferably in group settings
- Strong knowledge of age-appropriate art techniques and materials
- Ability to adapt lessons for mixed-age groups and varying skill levels
- Comfortable teaching outdoors and problem-solving for outdoor environments
- Excellent classroom management skills with young children
- Reliable transportation to various Bay Area park locations
- Background check clearance required
- CPR/First Aid certification (preferred or willing to obtain)
